Gerald A. Sims, 92, passed away at 12:45 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Integrity Healthcare and Rehab in Wood River.
He was born April 28, 1925 in Hutsonville to George and Rchel (Doebler) Sims.
Gerald married the former Melba June Smith on April 13, 1968 in Alton and she survives.
He worked as a salesman for many years.
Survivors also include two step-sons, Joey Ragusa of South Roxana, John and Beth Ragusa of O’Fallon, MO; five step-grandchildren, Stephanie Sheets, Britney Grizzle, Steven Ragusa, David Ragusa, Crystal Dolbee and numerous great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Gerald was proceeded in death by two brothers and a step-daughter, Judy (Ragusa)Cloninger
Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Memberships include the Wood River VFW and the East Alton American Legion.
A celebration of Gerald’s life will began at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Ron Johnson officiating.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Gerald will be sadly missed by family and friends.
