Georgia Lee Abbott, 83, died at 7:25 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, under the professional care of Blessing Hospice of Greene County.She was born in Chesterfield, IL. on July 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Willis & Mahala Ann (Taylor) Adams.In her early years before her marriage, she had worked at the International Shoe Factory and the Green Leaf Inn both inJerseyville.She married Samuel A. Abbott on Nov. 25, 1950 in Carrollton, and together they shared 63 years before his death on Dec. 10, 2013.Georgia was a homemaker, and for many years, she and Sam lived west of Kane where they raised their family, and ventured out west to reside in Colorado for several years before returning to the area, first living in Carrollton, and then eventually toJerseyville.Surviving are her six children and their spouses, Albert Dale & Bobbi Abbott of Godfrey, Roger Dean & Pamela Abbott of Kane, Ronald Dennis Abbott of Alton, Randell & Penny Abbott of Kane, Rhonda & Bill Dougherty of Jerseyville, and ReginaZirkelbach, and her companion, Marty Powell of Hillview; 14 Grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and two more on the way; and a brother, Robert Adams of Quincy.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Abbott; three brothers, William Adams, Willis "Junior" Adams, Harry "Bud" Adams; and four sisters, Clara Belle Woods, Hazel Abbott, Mildred Kraushaar, and Rose Marie Adams in infancy.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday.  Rev. Wilbur Cain will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Jersey County Health Department.
