George Miller

George L. Miller, 69, of Mitchell, IL, passed away at 5:14 p.m. Tues. July 28, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born Apr. 25, 1957 in Granite City, IL to the late Leonard and Patricia (Mueller) Miller. 

George was a mechanic for Agency for Community Transit for many years and was the former Assistant Fire Chief for Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department.  He was able to live out his retirement dreams of fishing and boating on Table Rock Lake for 5 years following his retirement.  He loved to fish and was a river rat, enjoying his time on the water.  His other love was Monte Carlos and was a member of the First Generation Monte Carlo club, spending his time tinkering on them.

On Nov. 4, 1989, he and Theresa A. Glendening were married in Granite City.  In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by 4 children: Michelle (Jason) nee: Miller Langenhorst of Germantown, IL, Shane Miller (Leslie Gossard) of Granite City, Kelley Miller (Leonard Walkiewicz) of Granite City and Josh Miller (Lizzie Bartels) of St. Louis, MO; 9 grandchildren: Ethan and Logan Langenhorst, Carson, Turner, Benjamin and Landen Miller, Noah Gossard, and Lexi and Dylan Arnold; 3 granddogs: Jasper, Finn and Callie; 3 siblings: Mark (Lee Ann) Miller of Rosewood Heights, IL, Cynthia (Mickey) Holmes of Granite City and Stacie (Scott) Hayden of St. Charles, MO; many nieces and nephews; and his former spouse: Keita Miller nee: Semon of Granite City.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 7:00 p.m. Mon. Aug. 3, 2026 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory with a Fire Department walk through at 7:00 p.m.  Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mitchell Fire Department or Wood River United Pentecostal Church where he was a member.
