George Loisel

George J. Loisel, 96, passed away at 9:10 pm Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab.

He was born on March 2, 1920 in Cloquet, Minnesota, the son of George E. & Melina (DeMers) Loisel.

George married Charlene L. Woods on April 30, 1955 Springfield, IL. She survives.

He retired from the Airforce after 27 years of service and served in WWII, Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.  He served with Civilian Conservation Corp while in high school and also received his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Heidelberg, Germany and his Master’s Degree at Illinois State University in Normal. He then became a guidance counselor for Brussels High School and retired in 1983 and loved to teach gun safety at Brussels for several years.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene “JR” (Jeffrey) Anderson of Bemidji, Minnesota, Catherine L. (James) Fuhler of Canyon Lake, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris L. (Marcia) Loisel Bernamwood, Wisconsin, and Craig L. (Catherine) Loisel of Viera, Florida; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother, Raymond D. Loisel of Duluth, Minnesota.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with military rites.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels is charge of the arrangements.
