George Henry Smith, 75, passed away 8:44 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at his residence.
Born in St. Louis on September 29, 1941, he was the son of John and Marie (Cunningham) Smith.
A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked in the dairy department and was a shop steward for Kroger for over 20 years before retiring.
On May 25, 1961 in Wood River, he married Paula Falica. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, Mike (Jo Ellen) Smith of St. Charles, MO; daughter, Cindy (Jim) Wunderlich of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren, Lyndsie (Mike) Honeycutt, Zachary (Abby) Smith, Alexandria Wunderlich, James Wunderlich, Isabella Wunderlich; four great grandchildren, Madison Wunderlich, Jovie, Vivian and Gloria Smith; and a brother, James Arthur "Art" (Liz) Smith in Louisiana; sister-in-law, Stella Smith of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John "Smitty" Smith.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 2. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.
Burial will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
