BRIGHTON-  George Gregory "Greg" Peipert, 75, died at 7:57 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia.He was born in Alton on May 18, 1940, the oldest of two sons born to George William & Marie (Jones) Peipert.He graduated in 1958 from Southwestern High School, and served with the U.S. Army.  He was employed at the Owens-Illinois Mold Shop for 34 years, until the closing of the plant in 1992.  He also assisted his father with their farming operations, and eventually assumed full responsibility.  He had served as a Piasa Township Trustee, and lent a helping hand wherever needed, but especially enjoyed assisting the Road Commissioner.Greg was a member of the Gold Emblem Club, consisting of former employees of Owens-Illinois, and was a member of the Alton Eagles Lodge.Throughout his life, Greg relished in the physical labors of farming.  In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, and helping out fellow friends and neighbors.In 2001, Greg suffered a paralyzing four wheeler accident.  The always active, helpful, and quite man that was Greg, remained a positive and guiding influence on others, teaching others how to "do things', such as replacing a car battery with his daughter or "fixing" things on the farm alongside his caregivers.He married the former Jacqueline Neal on Aug. 19, 1978 in Alton, and she remained a loyal and loving companion for the last 37 years, demonstrating the true meaning of love and commitment.Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Peipert of Brighton; a daughter & son in law, Erin & Lance Greer of Fenton, MO.; a granddaughter, Gabriella Greer; and a brother & sister in law, John & Patricia Peipert of Jerseyville.Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Monday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton.Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville.
