George Edwin Schallenberg, 71, died at 9:19 pm on September 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his children. He was born November 25, 1946 in Alton, IL. He married Joyce (Cherry) Reid on June 7, 2013 in Edwardsville, IL. She preceded him in death in February of 2018.
George was Manager of Hudson Oil in West Alton, MO., and co-owner and operator of C&S Auto in Godfrey, IL.He loved his fast cars and his Harley Davidson motorcycle, but he dearly loved his Joyce, his children, grandchildren and great grandson.
George was preceded in death by his father and mother: Edwin "Bud" Schallenberg and Elsie (Thomure) Schallenberg; and a son, Kenneth Schallenberg.
Surviving are children Brenda Sachs of West Alton, MO., Todd Schallenberg of Alton,IL., Erika (Ryan) Shipp of Goffstown, NH., Hannah Schallenberg of Alton, IL.; Grandchildren Michelle (Alex) Sansevere of West Alton, MO., Danielle Sachs of West Alton, MO., Jessica Schallenberg of West Alton, MO., Tyler Schallenberg of St. Charles, MO., Christian Schallenberg of West Alton, MO., Brayden Schallenberg of Alton, IL., Elijah, Hadley and Olivia Shipp of Goffstown, NH.; and a great grandson Troy Sansevere of West Alton, MO.; A sister Katherine Lovell of West Alton, MO.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 4 -7pm with a service held at 5:30pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. As per his request, George will be cremated after services.
Memorials may be made to Bikers Against Child Abuse.
