George D. Hair, 75 of Bethalto passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 4:12 pm at Alton Memorial Hospital
He was born on October 30, 1945, in Alton, Il the son of Daniel Lee and LaVelle (Hickerson) Hair. On June 2, 1965, George married Jill Doerr in Alton, IL.
George served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years. He went on and became a military instructor for an NJROTC program for 20 years.
He was a member of the Bethalto Masonic Lodge # 406 for 50 years, the Bethalto Eastern Star for 50 years, the Antique Auto Club, and the FBI- Fat Boys of Illinois. George was very handy and enjoyed helping people whenever he could; and working on his ’52 Chevy Pickup.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jill; three sons, David Hair (Sherry) of Wood River, Daryl Hair (Kim) of Mattoon, IL, and Eric Hair (Patti) of Round Lake, IL; two sisters, Debbie Davis (Wayne) and JoAnn Staples (Melvin); three grandsons; four granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Elias Kallal and Schaaf in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital.
