Geoffrey (Geoff) L. Kennedy, 79, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026. He was born May 9, 1946 in Keokuk, IA, the son of John K. and Verlie J. Kennedy (Bennett). He married Lisa (Groshans-Frakes) on February 14, 1995 in Alton, IL and she survives.
In addition to Lisa, Geoff is survived by his daughter-in-law, Dawn Fisch (Tom) of Turtle Lake, WI, 2 step children, Tyler Frakes (Ashley) of Buffalo Grove IL, and Salina Yowell (Mark) of Godfrey, IL, 7 grandchildren, Jack, Jared, and Justin Kennedy, Devon and Austin Yowell, and Olive and Simon Frakes. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary, Mark (Liz), Bennett (Lisa), and Matthew Kennedy, and sister, Danna Cummings, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Tom Stice, Deborah and Chris Marcussen, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Ann, sons John Robert (Bob), and Geoffrey Todd, his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Jean Groshans, and sister, Partha Lobberecht.
Geoff worked for 50 years in the Banking Industry, most recently a level 4 Mortgage Underwriter retiring in June 2008. He previously belonged to the Lions Club and Businessmen Rotary Club in Waterloo, IA and Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton, IL. Geoff enjoyed golfing, woodworking, sailing, and spending time with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family. They will always remember his love and dedication to his family and willingness to help without hesitation.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 9:30 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 10:30 am at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey, IL.
Luncheon will be held at Alton-Wood River Sportmen's Club following the burial. Located at 3109 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, IL.
