Geneva (Williams) Perry, 73, was called home to Glory on Friday June 12, 2015, at the St. Luke's hospice House of Kansas City, Mo.She was born June 17, 1941, in Greensboro, Ala. to the late Albert and Jennie (Chapman) Williams. Geneva was raised by her aunt Sarah Jemison of Alton, Ill. after her mother's death. Geneva was blessed with a beautiful voice, she was also a Sunday school teacher at St. James Baptist Church. She graduated from Alton High School class of 1961. She was employed at Owens Glass and the first African American Meter Maid of the city of Alton. She continued her career at Olin Corporation in East Alton, where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she was the director of the youth choir, later joined Abundant Life Fellowship in Florissant, Mo. She was married to Leonard Perry Jr. for nearly 20 years and to this union two children were born Leonora Saunders, and Leonard Perry III who preceded her in death. Her sisters Virginia Gator and Eula Ward also preceded her in death.She is survived by her children, Leonora Perry-Saunders of Olathe, Kans.; stepchildren, Annette (Byron) Williams of Godfrey, Lisa (Roger) Lovett of Alton; three grandchildren Sidney and Sterling Saunders of Olathe, Kans., Tyrese Wofford of Alton; step-stepchildren, Candace and Danielle Williams of Godfrey and Regiere, Rianca, and Riley Lovett of Alton; and one great-grandson Byron Williams of Godfrey; her siblings, Mary Alice Lewis, Alma Allen, Will Henry (Roxie) Williams, and J.B. Williams all of Greensboro, Ala., Albert Williams of Godfrey, Lucy (Vernon) Voss of Shorewood, Ill., and Adele Craig of Ontario, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.Visitation 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m., Saturday June 20, 2015, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Alton. Burial Upper Alton Cemetery.
