Hardin |

Geneva Marie Breden passed from this life to the Lord on October 21st, 2018.

She was born February 14th, 1928, the eldest child of Norbert Godar Sr. and Mary J. Godar (Becker).

She married Howard Breden on October 25th, 1947 at St. Norbert’s Church in Hardin, IL.  She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed on June 11, 2004 after 57 years or marriage.

She worked as a clerk at Corbett’s Grocery and Hardware store in Hardin and then later worked as a property assessor in Calhoun’s Northern Division.  For many years she was a 4-H leader for the Hamburg Tip Toppers 4-H club.  The highlight of her life was her loving family and taking her three grandchildren Jill, Jason and Justin on several Presley Tour bus trips covering many states.  She also took great joy in babysitting with many, many children over a span of 38 years.  These children were her extended family and she loved them all.  The memory of her 80th birthday party given by her family was a precious moment for her.  She was a life long member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

She is survived by a daughter, Angela Clendenny (Mike) of Bloomington and a son, Dan Breden (Bonnie) of Jacksonville and three grandchildren, Jill Hartke (Cory) of Bloomington, Jason Breden (Dawn) of Elgin and Justin Breden (Hayley) of Decatur.  She also had five great-grandchildren, Olivia Hartke, Sophia Hartke, Kali Breden, Colton Breden and Keira Breden. Geneva is also survived by three sisters, Virginia Robeen, Delores Fuhler, Marilyn Fuhler and four brothers, Norbert Godar Jr., Francis Godar, Larry Godar, and Roger Godar.
