Gavin Miller

Gavin Monroe Miller, age 14, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. Gavin was born on June 21, 2009 in Maryville, IL, a son of Dean Miller and Jamie (Horan) Miller.

Gavin will be remembered a loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin and a dear friend to many. Gavin was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville. He attended Edwardsville High School as a freshman. Gavin was a straight “A” student, and he loved being a part of the orchestra and theatre department at the school. He was in Science Olympian and dreamed of being a paleontologist. He was an old soul who made friends very easy. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and he never met a stranger. Gavin’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and hanging out with friends. Gavin loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved.

In addition to his loving parents, Gavin is survived by his grandparents, David and Christy Horan of Glen Carbon, IL and James and Pam Miller of Irondale, MO; and his dear aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL. The visitation will continue on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Maryville.

In celebration of his life, the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, at First Baptist Church Maryville, with Pastor Tom Hufty officiating. Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, IL.
