Gavester Tyler “Papoose” Robinson Jr

Gavester Tyler “Papoose” Robinson Jr., 55, of Alton, Illinois passed away and was found at his home on Saturday, August 12, 2017.  He was born July 16, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Gavester and Odessa (Richardson) Robinson.  He retired as a Civilian Communications Supervisor on August 1, 2017 from the Communications Division of the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department after 30 years of faithful and distinguished service.  He was appointed as a Communications Specialist on April 6, 1987.  During his career he held many positions within the Communications Division such as complaint evaluation or by handling the many different radio consoles with the department such as the specialized divisions or districts.  Mr. Robinson was subsequently promoted to the position of Communications Supervisor.  Only a select few Communication’s Specialist can achieve the requirements and accomplish this very demanding position on the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.  He was a graduate of Christian Brother College in 1975.  He was a simple and loving man, very quiet in nature, always thinking of others whom had a great love for his family and friends.  He had a special love of music and had an extensive collection of records throughout the years.  He is survived by a cousin, Debra Robinson of St. Louis and many cherished family and friends.  In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Robinson and a sister, Vanche “Annie” Richardson Webb.

In celebration of his life and in accordance with Tyler’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. 

Memorials may be made to the family and may be accepted at the funeral home.
