Gary L. Sitzes would like everyone to know his work here is done. He received a call, an offer that no one could refuse, for an appointment from which he will not return from. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is 110 percent. His mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be gardening, quilting and cooking to his hearts content. Music, laughter and love is guaranteed. He will be forever loved and missed by many. Gary was born in Gerald, MO on April 25, 1957, the son of Corky and Emma (Ehlers) Sitzes. He was a cake decorator for Shop-n-Save and also worked as a caregiver for the State of Illinois. He passed away at the age of 60 at 11:33 a.m. Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Otis and Mike Sitzes. He is survived by the love of his life for 30 years, his husband Joseph Perkins, three children, Carissa Eason (Doug), Addie Perkins (Carlo Vitale), and Timothy Perkins, 11 grandchildren, Zachary, Abbrin (Nick), Anna, Collin, Nick, Dustin (Kiersten), Gaige, Ben, Mahala, Mika (Ever), six great grandchildren, Ashton, Evan, Eli, Zayden, Nicholas and Isabella, two sisters, Nancy Scharfenburg (Dave) and Cathy Elsperman, a brother, Carl Sitzes and many extended family and friends. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton. Pastor Laurie Crelly will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton.
