Frederick D. Obermiller, Jr., 89, died at 3:15 a.m. on November 22, 2023 at River Crossing of Alton.
Fred was the son of Frederick D. Obermiller, Sr. and Louise (Westhoff) Obermiller. He was born on September 6, 1934 in Wood River.
Fred married the love of his life, Joyce Rogers on September 12, 1953 at the 1st Baptist Church of Wood River. They celebrated 70 years of marriage.
The lumber industry was Fred's career for most of his life. He valued the relationships he made and brought computer skills into the office.
Survivors include his wife Joyce; a daughter, Linda Carter; four grandchildren: Alicia (Matty) Gregg, Michael (Cindy) Santy, Geoffrey Carter, Laura (Colby) Powell; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Cathy Santy; a sister, Marylou Hay; his parents; and a great grandson, who died at birth.
Fred loved vacationing in Hawaii with Joyce, horseback riding with his daughters, time with family and friends, and Winnie, a much loved grand puppy.
A private burial was held at Woodland Hill Cemetery.
