Fred Lorts

Fred C. Lorts, 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at his home in Cottage Hills.He was born March 30, 1929, in Roxana, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Lillian (Trump) Lorts.Fred married Ella Mae Schmidt on February 14, 1954, in Fosterburg, Illinois. She survives.He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.He was a member of the Bethalto Masonic Lodge # 406. He enjoyed hunting, of all types, stock car racing and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball.In addition to his wife, survivors include his son and daughter in law, Perry and Susie Lorts of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Kyle (Leanne) Lorts of Peoria, Kory (Paige Beckman) Lorts of Clayton, Missouri, Kerry (Stephanie) Lorts of Edwardsville; two great grandchildren, June Elizabeth and Charlotte Rose; one sister, Viola (Butch) Barker of Brighton; and two brothers, Roger (Gloria) Lorts of Arizona and Mike Lorts of East Alton.He was preceded in death by his parent; two brothers, Paul Lorts, Robert “Cleo” Lorts; and two sisters, Naomi Latham and Mary Ann Bock.Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.Private family burial will be held after services Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
