Franklin J. Crain, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at the age of 81.Beloved husband of Helen M. Crain; cherished son of the late Frances and John Franklin Crain; devoted father of Amy Crain; loving grandfather of bonus granddaughter, Rachel Kubicek; dear brother of Carol Rabbitt, Patsy Merz, and three late brothers, John Crain, Bobby Crain, and Jimmy Crain; brother-in-law of Maggie Crain, Eileen Crain, the late Robert Merz, and the late Ed Rabbit; treasured uncle, cousin, and friend to many.Frank was employed by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) for over 20 years, where he loved his work as an EDP auditor and embraced his passion for technology. A big tech enthusiast, he was always on his computer, and after retirement, he discovered a new love for music, becoming an accomplished organist and having played the trumpet in his younger years.Frank was a gifted storyteller who delighted friends and family with his annual Christmas letters—creative stories he wrote and shared each year that everyone looked forward to receiving. Known for his kind heart, organization, and wonderfully creative mind, Frank was a lifelong learner who gave 110% to everything he did, especially when it came to loving his wife, Helen and daughter, Amy.
