Frank E. Pope, 85, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at his home in the arms of his loving wife with his family by his side.

He was born on August 9, 1931, in Owensville, MO, the son of the late Frank Dillard and Tilda (Breeden) Pope.

Frank married Sharon R. Griffin on June 30, 1975. She survives.

Frank was an area business owner. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308, Masonic Lodge Franklin 25 A.F. and A.M., American Legion of Alton. He was a longtime member of the former Alton Eagles and he was a faithful follower of Rev. Joel Osteen. Frank was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and Missouri Tigers fan. He was a jokester and loved to pull pranks. Frank was a devoted family man.  

In addition to his wife Sharon he is survived by a son, Greg (Karen) Pope of Alton; two step-children, Mike Norris of Godfrey and Becky Norris of Dallas, GA; 7 grandchildren, Nikki Jones, Megan McDonald, Eric Pope, Sarah Myers, Tristan Reeves, Jacklyn Reeves, Judy Reeves; ten great grandchildren, one sister, Oleta Wieneke of Alton.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Daniel Vondracek, Irene Honaker, Melvin and Edward Pope.

Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2017 from 4 to 8pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.

Funeral will be held at 1 pm of Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with Military Rights being Provided by Alton VFW Post 1308.
