Francis Jacobson

Francis Eugene “Gene” Jacobson, 93, died at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at St. Sophia Nursing and Rehab in Florissant, MO.  He was born November 25, 1923 in Alton the son of Willis and Mary (Worthy) Jacobson.  On September 10, 1944 in Sioux Falls, S.D. he married Rosemary (Hendy) and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2013.  He served our country in the U. S.  Air Force during World War II from July 10, 1943-January 10, 1946 and he attended Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN. He retired from General Refrigeration in East Alton.   Gene was a member for more than 50 years of Berean Bible Church of which he was a charter member and president.   Surviving are three children, Ronald (Beverly) Jacobson of Monticello, GA, Dr. Paul (Vicki) Jacobson of Jackson, TN and Lynda (Joe) Wedig of Florissant, MO, five grandchildren, Todd, Airen, Monique, Melony and Shannon, eight great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, one niece and two nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Jacobson.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Jim Johnston officiating.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with Full Military Honors from Alton VFW Post 1308.  Memorial may be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Alzheimer’s Association.   Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
