Francis Handling

Francis C. 'Jack' Handling, 87, of Brighton, passed away at 7:25 pm on Tues Oct 23, 2018 in Brighton. He was born on Sept 7, 1931 in Greene County, IL to Earl & Helen (Prather) Handling.He married Shirley A (Downs) Handling on Jan 8, 1955 in Alton, IL.He is survived by his wife, son; Jack M Handling of Brighton, brother & sister in law; Robert & Joyce Handling of Brighton, sister & brother in law; Jean & Colin Mandorca of Brighton, niece; Connie and her husband Kenneth Beyer of Brighton, nephew: Rob Handling and his fiancé Carrie Phillips of Troy, IL and a special cousin; Beverly Kasten of Brighton.He worked at the Owens-IL Mold Shop as a tool maker. Jack was a US Army Korean veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team and a lifetime member of the Brighton American Legion.Jack was a member of the United National Flint Glass Workers Union. He was on the executive board and was President of the Local Union 43.He was preceded in death by his parents and his father & mother in law; Earl & Elizabeth Downs. Private memorial services were held at the Brighton Cemetery with Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team providing full military honors.Burial was in the Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alton VFW 1308 Ritual Team.
