Frances Elaine (nee Blackwell) Olbrich, age 92 of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born August 1, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL; the daughter of the late Stephen Roy and Flossie Ellen (nee Cory) Blackwell. She married Robert “Bob” Wesley Olbrich on November 28, 1957 and he preceded her in death.
Frances graduated East St. Louis High School in 1948. She worked for the Collinsville Unit 10 School District as a secretary. She and her husband, Bob, were snowbirds spending their winters in Florida. She enjoyed card club with the Unit 10 ladies, watching Cardinal baseball, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Floy Hartman, Fay Blumberg, Fern Hancock; and two brothers: Ellis Blackwell and Stephen Blackwell.
Surviving are her four children: Cindy (Keith) Howell of Osage Beach, MO, Corey (Susan) Olbrich of Collinsville, IL, Mindy (Kevin) Wilborn of Glen Carbon, IL and Wendy (Mike) Bertelsmann of Maryville, IL; eight grandchildren: Julie (Kyle) Sellers, Erik Howell, Nicholas (Kelley Tanner) Olbrich, Sarah Olbrich, Ethan (Erin) Wilborn, Megan (Ryne Weiss) Wilborn, Chelsea Bertelsmann and Sydney Bertelsmann; six great-grandchildren: Shelby Weiss, Mary Sellers, Lane Wilborn, Reagan Wilborn, Wesson Weiss and Hazel Olbrich; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kim Dixon-Eeftink who has been an excellent caregiver for the past five years.
Visitation will be 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023 and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Monday with Rev. Elmer Bowman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
