Frances Marie Mormino, 96, of Alton and a current resident of The Fountains in Godfrey, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center.
Born August 8, 1922 in Batchtown, IL, she was the daughter of Tony and Elma (Mager) Sievers. She was married to Joseph Samuel Mormino on July 2, 1947 at St. Barbara’s Church in Batchtown and he preceded her in death in 2010 after a 63-year marriage.
She is also preceded in death by two sisters and their spouses; Gertrude (Francis) Roth of Elsah, IL and Dorothy (Gerald) Sagez of Golden Eagle, IL.
She is survived by two sons and their families; Joseph A. Mormino (Joyce L.) of Alton, and James D. Mormino (Lana) of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Alison (Chris) Maley of Springfield, IL; Lara (Rich) Berry of Alton; and Derek Mormino of Wood River; and two great-grandchildren, William Maley of Springfield, IL and Eileen Berry of Alton. Frances had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of her loving family along with many friends that she held dear.
She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, a clerk at Thrifty Drugstore in Alton during the 1970’s and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School.
