Frances Franklin

JERSEYVILLE – Frances Franklin, 72, died at 8:52 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 25, 1944 in Alton, the youngest daughter born to the late John Junior & Eunice Mabel (Kirkpatrick) Shaw and graduated with the class of 1962 from Alton Senior High School.

Frances married Eugene Franklin in 1962 and together they were blessed with two daughters and resided in Alton for several years before moving to Jersey County in 1976.

She then moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in 1978 where she worked as a Corporate Trainer for the State of Arizona Mining Inspectors Office, where she retired after 15 years of service in 1995.

After her retirement, she was able to make lasting memories and enjoy time together with her sister, Madeline before returning to Jersey County in 2010, where she has remained for the last six years.

Frances was a loving and caring women devout in her faith, and was a source of joy and encouragement to everyone she met. She was a loyal and faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville, where she was actively involved with Operation Christmas Child, an organization that she was extremely passionate about and that held a very special place in her heart.

Above all, was the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – there was never a birthday or holiday that Frances didn’t go out of her way to show them how much they all meant to her.

Surviving are two daughters and a sons-in-law, Tracy & Kevin Farris of Otterville and Charlotte & Chuck Conway of Waterford, Michigan;  8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Childress of Florissant, MO; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Karen Shaw of Normal; as well as the father of her children Eugene Franklin and his wife, Linda of Jerseyville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Nottoli.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m., until time of Celebration of Life Services at 6 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be given to Operation Christmas Child or to the Jerseyville First Assembly of God Youth Group in care of Crawford Funeral Home.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
