Frances Crivello Wegener died on Friday, June 1, 2018, in Springfield, Il. She was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Oscar T. and Barbara (Meckler) Boutrous. She graduated from the Bismarck public schools and Chillicothe (MO) Business College. On completion of studies at Chillicothe, Frances was employed in a secretarial position at American Smelting and Refining Company in Alton, IL. She held several secretarial positions and retired from Boatmen’s National Bank in St. Louis, MO.
Frances married George T. Crivello on June 15, 1946, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. They owned and operated Crivello’s Food Shop and Something Different Shop for many years. They were active in amateur theater groups in the area, entertaining various civic organizations and hospital patients, and were regular cast members of the annual February Frolics, which benefited Saints Peter and Paul School.
After the death of her husband on September 16, 1976, Frances operated Crivello’s Food Shop for two years before resuming a secretarial career.
Frances was invited to membership in Soroptimist Club of Alton in 1960. She served as club President numerous times and was also elected to the offices of District Director and Region Secretary, as well as Region Historian. When the Alton Soroptimist club disbanded in 2000, Frances was invited to join the St. Louis Soroptimist Club, where she remains a member.
Frances married George H. “Skeeter” Wegener on November 5, 1982. Together, they enjoyed many years and many travels together. George the Second, as she lovingly referred to him, preceded her in death on October 14, 2012.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Cass (husband Richard E. Dimond) of Springfield, IL; her son Jeffrey T. Crivello, of Ogden, Utah; a step-son, Christopher Wegener, of Alton, IL; five granddaughters: Carroll Ann Cass, of Springfield, IL; step-granddaughter Tracy Dimond (husband, Nick Foster), of Springfield, IL; Megan and Christia Crivello, of Ogden, Utah; Devon Crivello Lees (husband Jordan) of Clearfield, Utah; and two great-grandsons: step-great-grandson, Jaxon Siegel, of Springfield, IL; and Hendrix Wade Crivello Lees, of Clearfield, Utah. In addition, she is also survived by sisters-in-law; Mary Malone of Godfrey and Shirley A. Wegener of Godfrey, as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 10, 2018, 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 11, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton with Father Jason Stone as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church or School in Alton or to the charity of one’s choice.
