Floyd Adam Ellspermann, 92, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

He was born on July 17, 1920 in Bethalto, IL, the son of the late George A. and Nelle (Gray) Ellspermann.

He married Eleanor M. Jones on February 22, 1942 at the Upper Alton Baptist Church.  She survives.

Floyd served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He along with his father owned and operated the Bethalto Garage. He then was employed by the Bethalto School district as a bus driver for 10 years and later retired from Ruan Transport, where he worked as an over the road truck driver.  He was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church and the Bethalto American Legion Post #214, where he served as commander following his return from WW II.  He also served with the Bethalto Rotary Club, was a Village Trustee, Auxiliary Fireman and the Bethalto Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed golfing and boating.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Robert Brown of Bethalto; a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Bernadette Ellspermann of Bay St. Louis, MI; five grandchildren, Lisa Sabatino and her husband Matt, Laura Watts, Angela Dierking and her husband Joe, Brian Ellspermann and his wife Rebecca and Jim Moore and his wife, Laurie; seventeen great grandchildren and a sister, Vernelle McGaughey of Bethalto.

Visitation will be from 11 am until services at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Charles West officiating. 

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Military Rites will be accorded by the Bethalto American Legion Post #214.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Bethalto Methodist Church Building Fund.
