Florence Elizabeth Allsman, 79, went to be with the Lord at 1:48pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 20, 1937, in Alton, the daughter of the late Floyd “Dutch” and Mattie (Gleason) Rowland. She married Jerry Arthur Allsman on August 30, 1958, in Alton, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Jill and Dave Robinson of Godfrey, three sons and daughters in law: Jeff Allsman and his wife: Debbi McMahon of Bethalto, Jerry and Vicky Allsman of Alton, Scott and Beth Allsman of Alhambra, ten grandchildren: Lindsay Dugger and her husband: Ben, Stephanie Terry and husband: Jake, Jerremy Kirby, Jerilyn Kirby, Courtney Allsman, Cody Allsman, Megan Tyler and her husband: Ben, Josh Robinson, Drew Allsman, Emily Allsman, five great grandchildren: Emmi Dugger, Lexi Dugger, Saydi Terry, Macie Tyler, Josie Tyler, a sister: Marye Plumb of Godfrey, and a sister in law: Emma Rowland of Bethalto.

Florence was formerly employed by Dr. John A. Chanasue for over thirty years prior to her retirement. She was formerly the President of the Illinois Mothers Club/PTA for School District #11, she was Past President of the Humbolt/Loveyjoy Mother’s Club and PTA, the former Treasurer of the Alton Area PTA Council, she served as a youth development tutor, served in children’s ministry, was a Boy Scouts Den Mother, and was most recently involved in designing lessons for the children at Latitude Collaborative.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Wayne Rowland.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 9am until time of funeral services at 10am on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to Latitude Collaborative which was founded to serve children and families by providing educational faith based programs and will be accepted at the funeral home.
