Fleta M. Welch, 78, passed away at 8:32 am on Thursday September 29, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 27, 1938, in Fort Russel Township, the daughter of the late Duard B. Ward and Buelah (Cates) Harpole.
She married Billy A. Welch on November 12, 1957 in Worden, IL.
She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed being a part of the Women’s Missionary Union. She loved spending time with her family especially her grand and great grandchildren baking them pies and cookies. In the winter time she and Billy spent time in Florida visiting family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Loretta and Gerald Winskie of Melrose Florida and Susan and Brian Huff of Bethalto, IL; four granddaughters and their spouses Jarin and Michael Kenny, Jenna and Brent Bethurst, Jaime and Matt Dyal, and Hanna Huff; eight great grandchildren; two sisters June and Con Slaton and Rita Gwyn.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded by a son Billy Adrian Welch Jr; two sisters Lavada Frank and Benita Clagg.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday October 6, 2016 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral service will be at 10 am Friday October 7, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev. Andre Dobson officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Godfrey.
