Fae Whitlock

JERSEYVILLE – Fae M. (Head) Whitlock, 94, died at 3:45 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on December 27, 1922 in Newbern, one of three children born to the late Louis & Alice (Seago) Head.

Fae grew up in the Newbern/Dow area and moved to Jerseyville shortly after she married, and has remained her ever since. She first married Elknah Young, and together they had four sons. Later in life, she married Milford Whitlock on December 24, 1965 in Edwardsville, from which Fae gained a daughter; their marriage would span 35 years before his death on April 3, 2001.

She retired from Owens-Illinois, where she dedicated over 20 years of service, primarily working as a packer.

Fae was a lover of country music and enjoyed visiting the dance hall in Hillview for many years with her friends and family. She was also a member of the former Moose Lodge in Jerseyville and in her spare time enjoyed shopping and crocheting. She was a fantastic cook and loved nothing more than having her family all together, gathered around the table enjoying one another.

Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen & Sandy Young of Newbern; Kenneth & Cilda Young of Carrollton; David & Brenda Young of Jerseyville and Delbert & Shirley Young of Newbern; a daughter, Sharon Decker of Jerseyville; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Milford, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George W. Head and her step-father, Clarence Pinkerton.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with the Rev. James Seago officiating.

Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to Church of the Nazarene in Jerseyville, where Fae was a longtime member.
