Evelyn Halliday

Evelyn Mary Halliday, 100, passed away at 12:22 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Integrity Health Care and Rehab Center in Godfrey.

She was born February 26, 1917, in Wood River, IL, the daughter of the late Henry & Edith (Stoltz) Dalton.  She graduated from Alton High School and held many jobs through out her life, including working for the Secretary of the State of Illinois, and many accounting positions and caring for the elderly.

Evelyn was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto.  She enjoyed working and raising her children.  She also enjoyed dancing, quilting, reading, playing cards and bingo, potlucks, and spending time with her family and friends.  But anyone who knew her, knows of her real love for travel.  Most of her travel was done later in life and included 15 trips to Australia, 2 trips to Egypt, Hawaii, cruises and extensive travel around the U.S.

Survivors include 3 children, Norman Joseph Halliday of Ozarks, MO, James Allen Halliday of TN and Patricia Ann Call of Australia; a brother, Glenn Dalton of Bethalto; 8 grandchildren, Greg (Anne) Halliday, Christy (Alan) Ochs, Mike (Wendy) Halliday, Jason (Fern) Halliday, Jim (Angie) Halliday, Sonja Cox, Sarah (Brad) Hessling and Phillip Call; and several great grandchildren, Amanda, Victoria, Emily, Ben, Maggie, Taylor, Brittany, Cassie, Devin, Kristane, Jacob, Michael, and Mary; a daughter-in-law, Nancy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two ex-husbands, Norman Halliday and Glennon Roderfeld; her brothers, Clement, Stanly, Alvin, Elmer, Calvin and Oscar; a son, Mike; a daughter, Mary Kay; a grandson and his wife Darren and Rhonda Halliday; a granddaughter; Robyn Moon; and a great granddaughter, Melissa Moon.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 am on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto, IL, with Father Tom Liebler officiating. 

Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
