Evelyn M. Wells, 81, formerly of St. Louis, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab. She was born on November 8, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Ollie and Ida (Gregory) McKinney. She married Bert Wells and he preceded her in death. Survivors include four daughters and sons in law: Linda and Richard Townsend of Festus, Missouri, Carol and Darrell Prior of Piasa, Illinois, Gail and Terry Cozart of O'Fallon, Missouri, Roberta Batterton of St. Louis, Missouri, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and three brothers and sisters in law: Charles Eugene and Mary McKinney of Rogersville, Missouri, Chester and Helen McKinney of St. Charles, Missouri, and Richard and Jo McKinney of Tuscon, Arizona.
A homemaker, she was formerly a councilwoman in the Vinita County, Missouri. She enjoyed making ceramics and being a part of the TOPS weight loss program.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Graveside services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser, Illinois with burial immediately following at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
