Evelyn E. Tague, 84, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

  Born Dec. 13, 1928 in Edwardsville, she was a daughter of Henry and Anna (Smola) Ukena.

  She retired as a corporate secretary for Owens-Illinois Glass when they closed, then worked as a baker at the Wood River Pancake Ranch for 15 years.  She was an active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of their choir.  Evelyn also loved to write poetry.

  She is survived by 4 daughters, Laura (Bill) Rainey of Bethalto, Mary Lisa (Bill) Woodruff of Wood River, Margie (Jim) Wonders of Wood River, and Susan Tague of Bedford, Tex.; a son, Matthew (Nancy) Tague of Bloomington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Jennie Elliott, Cole Hettick, Rick Liljenberg, Logan and Caleb Wonders, Anna Nicols, Stan and Samuel Burney, Jonathan and Brook Gerner, and Kyle and Corey Tague;  and 7 great grandchildren; her siblings, Virgil (Nancy) Ukena of Rockford, Ill., Coletta Dalton of Moline, Ill,, Loretta (Jess) Carmody of Carrollton, Novella Brockman of Wood River, and Kenny (Shirley) Ukena of Edwardsville.

  She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Tague; a brother, Vernon Tague; and her former husband, Leonard “Sonny” Tague.

  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at Paynic Home for Funerals, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Father James Flach as Celebrant.

  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

  Memorials may be made for masses.
