Eva Johnson
Edwardsville | Save
Eva Louise Johnson, age 94, of Edwardsville, Illinois, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois.
Born on December 11, 1930, in Bumpus Mills, Tennessee, to the late Samuel and Elinor (Stagner) Luton, Eva lived a life defined by faith, family, and an enduring love for others.
On October 16, 1948, Eva married the love of her life, Earl T. Johnson, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, devotion, and family. Their marriage was a shining example of commitment and love until Earl’s passing on July 7, 2009.
A proud homemaker, Eva’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She created a warm and welcoming home, where her delicious meals and boundless love brought comfort to all who gathered around her table. She was a woman of deep faith, a devoted member of the Church of Christ, and found joy in serving the Lord and her church community.
Eva had a gift for making life brighter. She loved to laugh, to share stories, and to cherish life’s simple blessings. More than anything, she loved her family—each child, grandchild, great-grandchild, and great-great-grandchild was her pride and joy. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eva will be remembered always as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a cherished grandmother, a proud great- and great-great-grandmother, and a true friend. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love beyond measure.
A graveside service in celebration of Eva’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Lake View Memorial Gardens, 5000 N. Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Friends are invited to gather directly at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.irwinchapel.com.
