STAUNTON - Eugene A. “Gene” Bentrup of Staunton died at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Staunton Health & Rehab Center in Staunton, Illinois. He was 86 years old.
His late parents are Louis Bentrup and Elia Heigert.
He is survived by his wife Shirley. They were married on June 9, 1962, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston.
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother in infancy - Otto Bentrup.
He was a Grains Inspector for Toberman Grain & Feed Company in East St. Louis, IL.
Gene served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, shopping with Shirley, traveling with the Goldenaires Club, bowling, & table games.
Gene's funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston, Illinois. Rev. Thomas Hagstrom will officiate.
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to either Heartland Hospice, St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Staunton, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
