Esther Mae Cope, 86, passed away 10:34 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 5, 1931 in East Alton, she was the daughter of Martin T. and Eva M. (Pierce) Rhyne.
She had been a machinist for the Olin Corporation for 28 years before retiring.
On August 15, 1947 in East Alton, she married Charles W. Cope. He survives.
Surviving also are two sons, Gary D. (Sue) Cope, Mark A. Cope; six grandchildren, Joshua Cope, Jessica Kopitske, Eric Wilson, Kristopher Wilson, Cynthia Cope and Amber Cope; seven great grandchildren, Bradley Wilson, Elliott and Oliver Kopitske, Lor-Marquez and May-Rose Green, Brycen Cope and Lilyana Atchley;brother, Ernest (Peggy) Rhyne; and sisters, Nancy (Frank) Bartlett and Alberta Knight (Wayne Hellemeyer).
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, John E., Everett, Marvin, William and Thomas Rhyne.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Ray Robinson will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
