Emmett Earl "Pee Wee" Collins

He was born on May 6, 1921, the son of the late David Michael & Margaret "Maggie" (Baum) Collins. Pee Wee was a lifelong Jersey County farmer, and enjoyed hunting, especially coon hunter, and horseracing, both activities he picked up, and enjoyed particpating with his father. Pee Wee also dealt in antiques, and looked forward to his weekly trip to Carrolls Barber Shop. He was married to Edna "Snooks" Collins, and she died July 11, 1988. Surviving are a daughter & son in law, Cindy & Randy Burch of Jerseyville; two stepdaughters, Patty Van Walleghan of Kansas and Cathie Rockwood of Florida; two grandchildren, Trisha Burch, and her fiance', Chris LeBlanc and Nick Burch and his wife, Tana Burch all of Jerseyville; five step children; six great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Gress of Dixon, Mo., and Maurietta Gibbons of Alton; and a foster, Eldon Ballard of Gastonia, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Edward Collins & David "Doc" Collins; two sisters, Wilma Heitzig and Anna Helen Kallal; and a step son, James Eugene Ridenour.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until 10:45 a.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville or to Masses.
