Elsie M. Flach, 94 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
Elsie was born on September 7, 1927, in Madison, Illinois; the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Drozda) Sabol. Elsie was a homemaker and mom who was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City. Elsie enjoyed her days of working puzzles, baking cakes for her family and friends, playing Bingo, and was always ready to play slots wherever she could. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Elsie is survived by and will be missed by her daughters; Donna and Larry Denton of Collinsville, Illinois, Judy and Dennis Atwell of Troy, Illinois, Carol Baczewski of Carlyle, Illinois, Marie and David Kerwin of Mascoutah, Illinois; grandchildren, Joseph and Kristen Tutka, Kimberly and Andy Bruhn, Mary and Shawn Vance, Amanda and Ben Lowry, Lynn Denton, Keith, and Sarah Atwell, Jennifer Mutschler; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Myrda and Helen O’Guin.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; George E. Flach, whom she married on February 7, 1948; granddaughter, Rachael Kerwin; brother, John Sabol; sisters, Irene Marquardt and Agnes Peck.
In celebration of Elsie’s life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave. in Granite City with Father Stephen Thompson officiating. Elsie will be laid to rest with her husband George at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. on January 5, 2022. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
