Elmer Davis

Elmer L. Davis, 74 passed away at 12:30 am Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Nashville, TN. 

He was born on January 15, 1941, in West Alton, Missouri, the son of James R. and Fredrica A. Schraeder Davis. 

In May 1966 he was drafted into the United States Army.  He served his country proudly with the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam.  He worked for the Teamsters Local 525 for 41 years until his retirement in 2006.  He was a member of the Alton Eagles FOE #254.  He enjoyed socializing with people, traveling, fishing with his grandchildren, baking banana breads for friends and family at Christmas, and spending time with his family. 

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher Davis of Fairview Heights, IL and Darin and Joyce Davis of Cumberland City, TN; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Noah and Isabella; his siblings and their spouses, Henry and Beatrice Davis of Saint Louis, MO, Carl and Delores Davis of Wentzville, MO, Margaret Orff of St. Charles, MO and Sandy and Woodrow Martin of Caseyville, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings LeRoy, Freddie, Mary, Doris, Alice, Betty, and Ruth Anne.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the funeral home with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will be at 11:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Memorials may be made to his Grandchildren’s College Fund.
