Ellison Lenord Sherwood, 61, of Wood River passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 7, 1956 Crossville, TN. Ellison served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
On July 2, 1992, he and Joyce Ann Cox were married in Edwardsville, IL; she preceded him in death February 16, 2017.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Teresa (Lester Hennen) Sherwood of Wood River and Kathryn “Katie” Sherwood of Wood River; 2 sons: Shawn Sherwood of Wood River and Jason Sherwood of Alton; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and five brothers; Orval “J.R.” (Nancy) Sherwood of Brighton; Tim L. Sherwood of Brighton, Mark Wagenblast of Alton, Chad (Greg Hatfill) Sherwood of East Alton and Lloyd “Sunny” Bricker JR. of Branson, MO and three sisters, Treva Swain of Roxana, Kathy (Bob) Russell of Bethalto and Jennifer Sherwood of Alton.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by father, Orval L. “Red” Sherwood and Mother, Dolly Sherwood Choat
The family will hold a memorial celebration of life from 1-5 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the VFW in Cottage Hills. 121 S. Williams St., Cottage Hills, IL. Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights entrusted with cremation services.
