Ellen Wiley

Ellen A. Wiley, 83, died at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.  Born December 6, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Florence Ellen (Howard) Horn Sr.  Ellen was a R.N. at St. Joseph Hospital in Alton and retired from St. Anthony’s Hospital.  She was well known for her beautiful hand-made quilts and Christmas craft shows she held at her home and was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan!  She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  On February 21, 1976 she married Charles “Chuck” Wiley in Godfrey.  He preceded her in death on June 30, 2013.  Surviving are three daughters, Laura Wallendorf of Godfrey, Sara (Roy) Geisen of Godfrey, and Donna Dixon of Alton, two sons, Thomas Dixon of Alton, and Jeff (Diane) Dixon of Alton.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Megan (Nick) Hartz, Ben Klasner, Brian Wallendorf, Steven Wallendorf, Adam (Monica) Geisen, Alex, Andrew, Aaron, Avery and Anthony Geisen, two great grandchildren, Claire and Natalie Hartz, three brothers, John “Jack” Horn, William C. Horn, and Richard H. Horn, and a sister, Cathy Coffman.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Wallendorf, a grandson, Samuel John Geisen a brother, Dr. Charles J. Horn and former husband, Don H. Dixon.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School Education Fund or St. Ambrose Catholic Church.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
