Elizabeth Anne Henschel, 82, passed away at 4:48 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO.
She was born on April 16, 1941, in Dow, IL to Clarence and Anne (Richey) Osburn.
She married James E. Henschel on March 9, 1963, at St. Mary's Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2014.
Elizabeth obtained her CNA certification from Lewis and Clark Community College. She worked at Rosewood Care Center until retiring in 2006.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed feeding all animals and especially loved cats. She found joy in watching Lifetime movies and was exceptionally good at gardening.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Toni (Richard) Bailey of Alton; son, Mark (Selena Nulton) Henschel of Alton; grandchildren, Vanessa (Matthew) Nichols of Alton and Hunter Bailey of Alton; and sisters, Sharon (Bill) Fleming of Hot Springs, AR, and Phyllis (Lloyd) Marshall of Jerseyville.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy (Gordon) Luecker.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IL.
Burial will take place at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to 5A's and/or Metro East Humane Society.
