Eleanor M. Poeling, 83, passed away at 6:05 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
She was born on October 17, 1929 in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Clyde & Marie (Hirtz) Beilsmith.
Eleanor married James C. Poeling on June 2, 1951 in Portage Des Sioux, MO. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.
Eleanor was a homemaker taking great pride in raising her daughter and enjoying her granddaughters and great granddaughter as they grew up. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting. She was a former member of St. Matthews in Alton and then became a member of Holy Angels in Wood River.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Jerry Dragich of Swansea, IL; three granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Cates Julie, and Katy Dragich; one great granddaughter, Aubrey Cates; two brothers, Lawrence and George Beilsmith both of St. Charles, MO, one sister-in-law, Grace Poeling of St. Charles, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Beilsmith, Mary Catherine Beilsmith and Mildred LeClaire and three brothers-in-law, Clarence, Lawrence and Vincent Poeling.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow.
Memorials may be made to St. Teresa School Endowment fund in Belleville, Il or in the form of Masses.
