Eleanor “Elly” Boyer, 94, formerly of Godfrey, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. Born September 29, 1922 in Huron, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Clyde and Daisy (Melvin) Lafferty. Mrs. Boyer was a member of First Christian Church in Alton. She was a self-employed beautician and assisted her husband in ministry. On December 29, 1940 she married Pastor James Franklin Boyer in Cedarville, IL. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2014. Surviving is a granddaughter, Michelle Daniels of Madison, WI, a brother, Melvin “Bud” Lafferty of Freeport, IL, and a daughter-in-law, Diane Boyer of Alton. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Daniels, a son, Stephen Boyer, and three brothers, Orville, Perry and Harold Lafferty. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Alton. Pastor Jim Johnston and Pastor Ron Bottens will officiate. Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Alton, 760 Washington Avenue, or MAC-Gomery Christian Service Camp.
