Eldon “Butch” L. Joplin, age 73 of Pocahontas, Illinois, passed away at his home Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Born March 18, 1952, in Highland, Illinois Eldon was the son of Desebur “Bub” Deneil Joplin and Rachael “Katie” Kathleen Andrews. He attended the local schools and graduated from Southeast High School.
Enlisted in the United States Navy 1978 and was honorably discharged after his service in 1982. He had served on the USS Vulcan as a Hull maintenance technician. After his service to our country, Butch started working at Peterson Springs in Greenville from 1986 until his retirement 6 years ago. He was a volunteer fireman on the Greenville Fire Department.
Butch enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, watching western movies, darts, always loved having a fish tank and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Married Deborah Shackleford in Virginia in 1981, they divorced in 1995 and had 3 children together.
Married Cheryl Eymen, Greenville in 2003, they divorced in 2017.
Survived by children: daughter Joyce Joplin (Volkers), brother John Joplin, Grandchildren: Kayla (Garrett Faith) Joplin, Olivia Kissiar, Cecelia Joplin, Calvin Volkers, Charlie Volkers, Jordyn Flood, and James “Moe” Flood. Great-Grandchild Kholton Faith.
Also survived by a brothers Gary “Dean” (Janice) Joplin and John (Dolores) Joplin. He leaves behind a host of family and close friends.
Preceded in death by sisters Connie Rice and Patsy Brackman.
