Elaine Mary Ann Kassak, 70, passed away 9:12 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
Born January 16, 1947 in Hazelton, PA, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Smutney) Baran.
A homemaker, she was active at Holy Angels Parish, the Daughters of Isabella, Boys and Girl Scouts of America, was a recipient of St. George Award and St. Ann Award from the scouts.
She married John R. Kassak on July 27, 1968 in Hazelton, PA. He died March 5, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Michael (Amanda) Kassak of Alton, Edward (Kim) Kassak of Hazelton, PA; three daughters, Antonia (Brian) Stallman of Rock Hill, MO, Laura (Joel) Blair of East Altonk, Lynn (Shawn) Grimes of Wood River; nine grandchildren, Ethan and Kory Majors, Alan and Deanna Stallman, Eric and Olivia Grimes, Simon Blair, Nicholas and Alexander Kassak.
Her parents; husband; and a son, Christopher preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.
Burial will follow in St.Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to masses or the American Cancer Society.
