Elaine J. (Godar) Turner, age 88, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.
She was born on October 25, 1924 in Hardin, IL the daughter of the late Paul F. & Theresa (Becker) Godar.
She married Carl F. Turner on May 10, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1999.
Elaine was employed at Owens IL Glass Co. for a few years leaving to raise her family. She was a former member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and working with her flowers. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a compassionate, loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki & Jon Miller of Godfrey; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Turner and Brenda Haney of Alton, Danny & Paulette Turner of Alton and Robert “Bobby” & Mary Turner of AZ; granddaughter and her spouse, Laura & Dominic D’ Addezio of St. Louis, MO; three sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine Krause of Kane, Donna Droege of St. Charles, MO and Melba & Steve Tepen of Hardin and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Alice Baalman and Rose Beiermann and five brothers, Cecil, Patrick, Romeo, Manuel and Alfred Godar.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm, Sunday February 10, 2013 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral mass will be at 11 am, Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, with Fr. Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.
Memorial may be directed to the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
