Elaine Hamer

Elaine Hope Hamer age 95 of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 12:35 p.m.at Morningside of Godfrey.Born on August 21, 1922 in Madison, she was the daughter of the late Oliver K. and Alice I.(nee: Carrigan) Hope.She married Gerald D. “Buck” Hamer on December 5, 1942 in San Diego, California.  He preceded her in death on December 22, 2013.She was a 1940 graduate of Marquette High School and was a long-time member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. She was also a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, enjoyed baking, golfing, playing bridge and listening to music, especially her favorite, Frank Sinatra songs.Survivors include a son; Gary (Carol) Hamer of Alton, a daughter; Janet (John) Renick of AltonTwo Grandchildren: Jason (Amber) Hamer of Mokena, Illinois and Hadleigh (Drew) Mattson of University City, MissouriThree Great-Grandchildren; Caden Hamer, Abel Hamer, and Reece Mattson.She was also preceded in death by a sister; Colleen BeamerThere will be no visitation and private family services will be held.The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice and Morningside of Godfrey for their compassion and excellent care.Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.In her memory, memorials may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church or toMarquette Catholic High School both in Alton.
