Edwin Unterbrink

Edwin H. Unterbrink, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Cedarhurst of Collinsville.

He was born May 7, 1925, in Dorsey, Illinois, the son of Henry and Hanna (Eden) Unterbrink.Edwin married Elinor C. McKee on June 30, 1950, at the 1^st Congregational Church in Alton. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2009.  He worked as a carpenter for Local #377, retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto and an honorary member of the Carpenters Union #664. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, playing golf and also worked at several golf courses throughout the area.Survivors include his children and their spouses, Donald D. and Jeanie Unterbrink of Orlando, Florida, Dennis L. and Nancy Unterbrink of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Michele, Christina, Nate, Kelseigh, Devon, Jennifer, Julianne, Chris, Mark; and five great grandchildren, Elliot, Cash, Ellie, Tori, Lilly.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Joy L. VanDeHey; and a sister Virginia Wilkening.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Willard Meyer and Pastor Kale Hanson officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
