Edward Wachtel

Edward F. Wachtel, Jr., 79, of O’Fallon, MO, formerly of Belleville, IL, born August 31, 1946, in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his residence.

Ed was a very kind person. Every day, he practiced Jesus’ rule to always love thy neighbor as thyself. And for this reason, everyone loved Ed. So, in his memory, please do something kind today for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F., Sr. and Odella, nee Hoff, Wachtel.

Surviving are his loving wife of 30 years, Margene, nee Muskopf, Frommel; his step-son, Charles (Melissa) Frommel; and his brother, Thomas (Stacie) Wachtel.

Graveside services will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL, at a later date, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
