Mr. Mueth graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and, in 1993, retired from Jefferson Smurfit as a controller after 27 years of service. He was a volunteer for 12 years at the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site in Hartford, IL. Ed had been a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Parish, Brighton, IL.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward D. Mueth; a granddaughter, Claire Mueth; his parents, Michael and Martha, nee Neff, Mueth; two brothers, Joe Mueth and Cletus Mueth; and a sister, Celestine “Sally” Krupp.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Evelyn M., nee Kalert, Mueth, whom he married on August 28, 1965;
two sons, Brian (Sharon) Mueth of San Francisco, CA, and Dan (Michelle) Mueth of Basking Ridge, NJ;
a daughter, Jennifer Mueth of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Ethan, Edward, William, Katherine, and Kimberly; a sister, Anna Mae Kreher; a brother, Vic Mueth; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in the form of Masses, to the Belleville Diocesan Ministry to the Sick & Aged, or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Funeral: Private family visitation and funeral services were held Friday, May 1, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Smithton, IL, with Father David Kalert, OMI, officiating. Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Paderborn, IL.
