Edward Ray Kunz , age 62, died at 3:00 am, Friday, 2 April, 2010, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He was born on January 22, 1948, in Alton, IL. to Herbert and Audrey (Roberts) Kunz.

He served as a license inspector for the Illinois State police, and he owned and operated Ed’s Outdoor Equipment on Broadway in Alton, Il. He served his country in the US Air Force at several duty stations including Vietnam. He was employed at Fischer Lumber Company as a Truck Driver for 14 yrs., he was also a member of the Alton Local Teamsters #525. He had a passion for stock car racing. He drove at local tracks for 10yrs. He enjoyed outdoor sports and being with his friends and family

Edward is survived by one son; Michael R. Kunz of Staunton, Il. one grandson; Trenton Doles of Alton, Il. and Cathy Kunz, two sisters; Schardelle Paul of Lakewood, CO. and Norma and her spouse Harold Golike of Bethalto, IL. two brothers; Lowell and his spouse Barbara Kunz of Brighton, IL. and Herbert "Homer" and his spouse Ann Kunz of Douglass, KS. His mother and father in-law; Robert and Johanna Wallace of Great Falls, MT. three brothers and two sisters–in-law; Dennis and his spouse Sara Taylor of Brighton. Il. Jeff and his spouse Mary Wallace, of Kalispell, MT. and Greg Wallace of Missoula, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother –in-law; Maurice Paul and one sister-in-law; Paula Wallace.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday April 7, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. where funeral services will be conducted at 10 am, Thursday, April 8, 2010. The Rev. Troy Crain will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Memorials may be made to American Disabled Veterans or the Charity of One’s Choice.
